The Flying Kayak Open (FKO) is celebrating it’s third year in 2024 and returning to central Oregon’s Davis Lake. This lake features amazing scenery, lava flows, clear water, tall reeds, and big ol’ largemouth bass. Payouts have been boosted by our friends at Northwest Fly Fishing Outfitters, and we’ll be giving away gear from Yakima, and others. The FKO is a one-of-kind tournament that is fly fishing only. All anglers must fish from a kayak, canoe, or SUP.

This event follows OKBF Tour Event #3 on nearby Prineville Reservoir on Saturday, July 27, 2024. You might want to fish that event as well, while you are in the area. Flies and fly rods are not required for the Crane event, but they are allowed.

Check out Brian O’Keefe fishing Davis Lake for Catch Magazine (video by Todd Moen), back in 2010, when it was still a well-guarded secret spot. Davis may not have as many giants as Brian landed back then, but the lake is still a great spot to find numbers and quality bass on the fly.
