The Flying Kayak Open (FKO) is celebrating our fourth FKO and returning to central Oregon’s Davis Lake. This lake features amazing scenery, lava flows, clear water, tall reeds, and big ol’ largemouth bass. We are working on payout boosts, and we’ll be giving away kayak fishing gear, including a brand new G. Loomis’ IMX-PRO V2 8810-4 8-weight, 8’10” fly rod, valued at $595, and more.
This event follows the KFNW Summer Open on nearby Crane Prairie Reservoir on Saturday, August 8, 2026. You might want to fish that event as well, while you are in the area. KFNW membership is NOT required. Flies and fly rods are not required for the Crane event, but they are allowed.
Check out Brian O’Keefe fishing Davis Lake for Catch Magazine (video by Todd Moen), back in 2010, when it was still a well-guarded secret spot. Davis may not have as many giants as Brian landed back then, but the lake is still a great spot to find quality bass on the fly.
